Shift happens. Are you ready?

I discovered a great video over at glumbert.com. According to former Secretary of Education Richard Riley, the top 10 jobs that will be in demand in 2010 didn’t exist in 2004. Schools are now preparing students for jobs that don’t yet exist and that use technologies that haven’t been invented yet to solve problems that we don’t even know are problems yet.

Hard to wrap you head around that one isn’t it? But it makes perfect sense. If we think of what life was like for our parents, in ways it was a bit simpler. Information wasn’t as readily available and choices were fewer. Shift has happened and it’s not over…

Just a few years ago, most of us would have laughed at being a “professional” blogger. But such people do exist. Chris Garrett is such a person and was just interviewed by Misha A. Degtyarev. During his interview he talks about how he makes his living from blogging and how he got into it.

If you’ve been thinking that changes are needed in your life, don’t limit yourself and start thinking of the jobs that don’t yet exist.
